Welcome to the That Peter Kay
Thing section. Like Kay's The Services before it, the
how proceeds as a spoof documentary
and captures six different yet
similar slices of life in Bolton, with the now-familiar
cast of Phoenix Nights playing multiple roles.
Each episodes focuses on a
different set of hilarious characters, including Brian
Potter and the staff of the ill-fated Neptune club.
The back story of Potter and the
others is told here for the first time. If more
restricted than Phoenix Nights, That Peter Kay
Thing is still winningly hilarious
and, unlike other BBC comedies which have since copied
its format, extends a deep generosity
to the people it lays bare on the
screen.
